The Stables: a two-bedroom lodge for four at The Firs

Sleeps 4 · 2 bedrooms · 2 bathrooms · approximately 750 sq ft · Converted 18th-century farm building

The Stables is our largest lodge — approximately 750 sq ft across two bedrooms and two bathrooms, in a converted 18th-century stables. Both bedrooms are around 14ft by 14ft, and both superking beds can be separated into two singles, which makes it the most flexible lodge we have.

What isn't here

Worth knowing before you book:

  • No television. None of our lodges have one — that's deliberate, though the wifi is good throughout

  • No dishwasher

  • No dogs. We don't accept them anywhere on the site

  • The washing machine and dryer are in the Boot Room, a separate building shared with other guests

Available on request

  • Travel cot

  • Floor bed

Who it suits

Two couples, a family of four, or four friends. The split-bed option means nobody has to share if they'd rather not, and with two bathrooms there's no morning queue. It's the lodge we'd point you to first if flexibility matters more than anything else.

The building

The Stables was a Victorian stable block. When we started the renovation it still had hay in it, along with an old bridle, horseshoes and feeding troughs.

The outside of the building has changed very little. We wanted to keep its character.
