BOOKING

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including American Express.
Yes, We also would require large groups of above 10 to book the entire site. Please keep in mind that we operate a quite site policy, so noise will need to be kept down after 10pm. to allow all of our neighbours to get a good night’s sleep. Sound carries a very long way when it is so quiet!

CAN WE EAT TOGETHER IN A LARGE GROUP
Yes, you can, we have several areas that can be used as a gathering space. The cartlodge is a lovely undercover eat space, The Piggery has an indoor space that would suit dining also. We also have the Barn which could be hired for a large banquet style feast.

No, due to the nature of the site we do not allow pets

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY BOOKING?
You can cancel your booking at any time. However, a fee will apply as detailed below:
​The Firs Suffolk in connection with your booking and the dissolution. In any case, you will owe the deposit of the booking amount in the event of cancellation more than 90 days before the planned date of commencement of the stay. Cancellation less than 90 days but more than 60 days will have a cancellation fee of 50%, less than 60 days and more than 30 days will have a cancellation fee of 75% and less 30 days will result in a 100% cancellation fee
Please note, The Firs Suffolk should be notified in writing should a cancellation need to be made.

DO YOU HAVE AN EARLY CHECK-IN SERVICE?
At present we do not offer early check-in. But we will always try to accommodate if we can.

DEPARTURE

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE DURING MY STAY?
If any damage occurs, you will be charged via invoice and we will pursue it for full payment.
Please contact us in the first instance if any damage has occurred during your stay.

DO YOU OFFER A LATE CHECK-OUT SERVICE?
At present we do not offer late check-out.

ARE THERE ANY LOCAL WALK/CYCLE ROUTES?
Yes, there are plenty of beautiful routes to explore around.

There are plenty of beautiful beaches just half-an-hour drive away. Your self-catering lodge is near beaches at Thorpeness, Southwold, Aldeburgh and more.
​
We advise booking taxis in advance due to the fact that we are in a very rural location. We have provided you with a list or local taxi firms in your welcome pack, which you will find when you arrive in your lodge.

WHERE ARE THE NEAREST RESTAURANTS AND PUBS?
We are very fortunate that there are some lovely places to eat which will satify the foodies.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST SHOP OR SUPERMARKET?
There is a Co-op in Laxfield, three miles from The Firs Suffolk.

ACCOMMODATION
​
DOES MY ACCOMMODATION HAVE A HOT TUB?
Yes it does. Each lodge has it's own private wood-fired soaking tub. These are traditional hot tubs. They do not have air blowers/bubbles. The traditional style hot tubs allow you to enjoy the beautiful sounds of nature.

Yes there is. And a plunge bucket. Also if you are brave enough you can take a dip in the pond. You can book sauna sessions at checkout.

WHAT DO I DO IF THERE ARE ANY MAINTENANCE ISSUES DURING MY STAY?
There will be a contact number at the property for you to use if you need to contact us regarding any maintenance issues. We will endeavour to sort any issues out for you in a timely manner.

No, there are no TVs. We really want you to switch off - but we do have good internet...so feel free to bring your own ipad

CAN I GET A SUPERMARKET DELIVERY TO MY LODGE?
Yes, however you will need to meet them at the main gate, and please note we are unable to accept deliveries on your behalf. We may on occasion be around to accept delivery.

DO YOU SUPPLY COTS AND HIGHCHAIRS?
We only provide highchairs, and these need to be requested at the point of booking. We recommend bringing your own travel cot and bedding with you, if required.

DO I NEED TO BRING TOWELS AND BEDDING?
No, we provide high-quality bedding and towels for you. All beds will be made up prior to arrival.

MISCELLANEOUS
​
DO YOU SUPPLY WOOD FOR THE WOOD BURNING STOVES?
Yes, we provide the first bundle of wood which should last you a couple of nights. More bundles of wood are available to purchase

SHOULD I BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Yes, we always recommend that you have comprehensive travel insurance. We recommend that you take out a policy which covers you in the event of cancellation, COVID 19 etc.

If there is anything that you are not happy about during your stay, please do let us know as quickly as possible so we can address the issue.

Each of our lodges has its own barbecue firepit for guests to use, and wood/kindling and firelighters will also be available. We also have Pizza Ovens and Large firepit which is great for group stays.

Yes absolutely, we are very family friendly, and you are welcome to bring your own travel cot and bedding for babies/toddlers.
The two-bedroom lodges have been designed for families in mind, as we do not permit guests to bring additional blow-up/camp beds for older children (or adults).

IS THE FIRS SUFFOLK OPEN ALL YEAR?
We close in January but otherwise we are open all year.

No. In general, we only offer a minimum of three-night stays. On selected dates through the year, subject to availability, we offer some two-night stays.
