A Perfect 48 Hours for Couples in Suffolk

Some weekends are for doing everything. This one is for doing almost nothing, beautifully. Here's how to spend forty-eight slow hours for two at The Firs.
Friday: arrive and let go
Check in as the light goes amber. Your lodge has a wood-burning stove already laid and a private wood-fired hot tub a few steps from the door — light both. There's no itinerary tonight beyond the firepit, a bottle of something good, and the particular quiet that four acres of Suffolk countryside makes after dark.
Saturday: the coast, then the sauna
Take the morning slowly — coffee on the veranda, the grounds to yourselves if you're up early enough. Then point yourselves at the coast: Southwold and Aldeburgh are both about twenty-five minutes away, made for a long walk on the front and a lazy seaside lunch. Come back mid-afternoon and book the Piggery Spa; the sauna is at its best as the evening cools, and the bravest couples follow it with a plunge in the moat.
Sunday: the slow goodbye
No alarm. A last soak in the tub, a wander around the kitchen garden, and a final coffee before the world starts again. The best stays are the ones you leave already planning to repeat.
